Skipping rope has many health benefits, it helps bone strengthening, weight loss and promotes cardiovascular health. Skipping rope is often performed as an exercise or recreational activity, there are plenty of ways to skip rope and many techniques which can be incorporated into it.

The good thing about this type of exercise is that it can be fun, it’s easy to do, cheap, we often associate it with our childhood and can always throw in new moves and challenges.

Focus and concentration are also needed to adequately skip rope, this makes this exercise calming and addictive.

Skipping rope requires coordination of arms and legs as well as good timing, this stimulates and exercises physical coordination as well as the brain.

Skipping rope increases heart rate and thus helps with the prevention of many kinds of cardiovascular diseases. This can vary and be modified depending on the intensity and length of the exercise.

This type of cardio exercise helps with burning calories. The success and number of calories burned, of course, depend on the intensity and length of the exercise as well. Still, skipping rope burns an unexpectedly large number of calories and is one of the best exercises to perform if you want to lose weight. Again, you can increase the intensity of the exercise by adding new moves.

Some studies suggest that jumping rope can affect bone strength. Landing creates a small amount of stress on the bones which can help in their strengthening.

In the beginning with this exercise, as with many, a bit of patience is suggested. Some experts suggest that you can begin skipping rope every day if you incorporate rest days from time to time. Others suggest that in the beginning 3 times a week is enough until the body gets used to this unusual activity. Session length usually depends on your abilities and preferences.

As with most exercises it’s required to have a careful approach because of the new moves your body isn’t used to and risk of injury.
