Anorexia

Description

Anorexia is known for patients having a distorted perception of their body, think that they are obese, they have irrational fear to become fat. This disorder can be very serious and patients may become dangerously undernourished. Anorexia is called anorexia nervosa and it most often appears in women in their teenage ages and early adulthood.

Symptoms

Irrational fear of obesity, loss of weight higher than 15%, depression, excessive exercise, loss of period, malnutrition.

Overview

History of disease is being taken and physical examination is being done. Lab tests are performed to exclude consequences of malnutrition.

Tests

Complete blood count (CBC), biochemical blood analysis, pregnancy test (beta-HCG) and urine analysis.

Therapy
